I am excited to be writing the story of the origins and development of Oswego County Search & Rescue. The group was formed in 1971 after a young boy went missing in the Adirondacks and no local organized help was available to assist in the search for him. Shortly after this, a group formed in Fulton to make sure that this lack of trained search and rescuers would never take place again. The inspiring story of how this small group of concerned individuals grew into one of the most respected search and rescue teams of New York State will be created from interviews with the team's founders, review of the many searches the team has undertaken and my first-hand observations of today's team in action.
